Vocational Assessment
Vocational Assessment is a specific assessment which takes into account work history, academic achievement, transferrable skills and the client’s actual and potential ability to develop employment options. It includes assessment of the client’s cognitive skills, aptitudes, competencies and interests to provide a well rounded profile of the client. A Vocational Assessment is completed by a Psychologist.
At Adaptive Workplace Solutions we typically deliver this service over two sessions, because we believe that this provides a more thorough approach to this type of assessment. The first session consists of semi-structured interview and testing and the follow up session allows us to provide feedback to the client and finalise potentially suitable employment options.
This service can be helpful when a more specialised assessment is required for one reason or another. A few examples include where the treatment team have recommended it for a specific reason, when there is uncertainty about retraining ability or attempts at commencing new employment have been unsuccessful, because the client requires more extensive testing.
A referral for a Vocational Assessment can be made when:
-
- the return to work goal is new employment, or a decision is made to change the return to work goal to new employment, or
- when job placement services are in place and psychological assessments are required to assist the identification of suitable employment options.
